The Must-See Nature Cruise in Bar Harbor!
This evening trip is one of the most beautiful ways to experience Frenchman Bay and Acadia National Park as the sun sets. The first hour of this trip is a traditional nature cruise: we follow the east coast of Mount Desert Island and offer narration and opportunities to see the most stunning shoreline of Acadia National Park. Throughout the trip, we look out for bald eagles, peregrine falcons, harbor porpoise, seals, and other wildlife. We also share information about the environment, history, and culture of the area.
During the second hour of the trip, we cruise slowly through the evergreen tree-topped islands of Frenchman Bay while listening to fun happy hour music. We partner with Atlantic Brewing Company, a local award winning microbrew, and offer happy hour prices throughout the tour. Start your day with a sunrise atop Cadillac Mountain and end your day with a sunset on the ocean!
Binoculars and/or a long zoom lens are recommended for viewing wildlife such as seals and eagles.
Dogs are welcome aboard!

Trips will depart rain or shine, however we will cancel for high sea conditions and dense fog. Cruises can cancel up to 30 minutes prior to departure. In the event of a cancellation, you will be notified via email and text. To rebook your cruise, please contact our office at 207-288-2386 or email us at [email protected]. Refunds will be processed automatically by the end of the day.

- Galley has light snacks and bar, including hot and cold beverages. CASH ONLY for galley purchases.
- Restrooms are available onboard the vessel.
- Indoor and outdoor seating available. Seating is first come, first served.

Passengers are welcome to move around the boat during the trip to view wildlife and scenery from different levels.

- We recommend arriving up to an hour early for boarding. Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before trip’s scheduled departure.
- Municipal paid parking is available in downtown Bar Harbor and the town pier.
- Download the ParkMobile app to assist in finding and paying for parking.
- We would recommend the kiosk parking lots (marked in blue on the parking map) because of the length of the whale watch trip.
- Parking is limited in town, and gets very difficult to find later in the day. Please arrive early to find a spot to park!
- Vehicles displaying a valid disability placard, temporary placard, or disability registration plate can park in any paid or permit parking space in Bar Harbor free of charge. Time Limits: Vehicles with a valid placard or plate may remain parked for up to twice the usual time limit posted for that space. (bhmdpoliceme.gov)
- Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co. is not responsible for any parking fees or tickets due to the duration of trips or cancellations.
- The Island Explorer buses are a free shuttle service and available during most of our season. Our dock is a short walk from their location at the Village Green in Bar Harbor.
- Taxi services are also available for drop-off and pick-up at our location.

- Warm layers such as a jacket or sweatshirt. The temperature can drop later in the day/early evening. Air temperatures tends to be colder on the water.

Kids are certainly welcome! We ask parents or guardians to make sure kids have an adult with them at all times. We are out on the ocean and kids tend to wander off, attempt to jump, run, swing and climb on things they shouldn’t and could potentially get injured.
