Great Duck Island Loop (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, and Sat)

Highlights include Great Duck Island, Egg Rock, Winter Harbor, Baker Island and Bear Island Lights. Also, Isleford Life Saving Station, and Acadia National Park highlights, history, and islands. Many stunning coastal mansions including: Anchorage (Ford Family), Breakwater Estate (Astor), Chatwood (Pulitzer), Eastern Watch, High Seas Estate, Kenarden, Rockefeller Estate, Southerly, and Skylands (Martha Stewart). This trip is fully narrated and offers ample time at each light for excellent photo opportunities. (See Schedule)

  • Sound Tour

Somes Sound Tour (Wednesday and Sunday)

This tour is similar to the Great Duck Loop except that you do not venture as far offshore and stay in more protected waters and see Bass Harbor light and Somes Sound instead of Great Duck and Winter Harbor Lights. Somes sound is a famous and spectacular fjord-like sound with mountains, waterfalls, and cliffs. All the park highlights and mansions with extra mansions. This trip has excellent narration and offers ample time at each light for excellent photography. (See Schedule)

Grand Slam US/Canada 17-Lighthouse Photography Tour

Trip times: 9AM – 6 PM (8.5 to 9 hours)
Saturday, July 30th, 2016 (Rain Date – July 31st, 2016)

Come with us on a grand all day visual adventure. Stop at all the lighthouses between Bar Harbor and New Brunswick, then circumnavigate Grand Manan Island and stop to see six Canadian Lights. Highlights include West Quoddy Head Light, Gannet Rock, Machias Seal Island Light, Swallowtail Light, and Petit Manan Light. We will have the opportunity to see lots of wildlife throughout the tour and two of the largest seabird nesting islands in the Gulf of Maine. This tour is guided by two of the best lighthouse authorities in North America: Jeremy D’Entremont and Christopher Mills. This tour will also feature two special guests: Bob Trapani, Director, of the American Lighthouse Foundation, and Mike Leonard, Vice President, of the Portland Camera Club. For a visual display of the lights and route please view our Grand Slam Digital Story Map.

Mid-Coast Maine 15-Lighthouse and Lobster Bake Tour

Join us for an amazing 15-lighthouse Penobscot Bay tour! In the morning we take in eight lights arriving in Rockland at lunch to meet coach buses that will take you to the Samoset resort for a Maine lobster bake. During lunch Bob Trapani, director of the American Lighthouse Foundation, will speak to us about the work they are doing to promote the conservation of lighthouses. In the afternoon visit seven additional lighthouses including the Rockport and Camden Lights – which we have yet to visit on any past light tours. Lighthouse Historian and author Jeremy D’Entremont will provide narrative of all the lights and will bring copies of his books for purchase and to sign. During the day there will be many opportunities to take incredible photos of scenery, wildlife, islands, and beautiful Vinalhaven and Stonington Harbors from the water.

Penobscot River

Penobscot River and 10 Lighthouses Tour:
Bar Harbor to Bangor with Bob Duschesne’s Wild Maine

NEW OFFERING! Join Bob Duchesne host of Wild Maine on FM92.9 and chair of the Maine inland fisheries and wildlife house committee! Cruise aboard a stable and comfortable jet-powered catamaran from Bar Harbor to Bangor and up the Penobscot River! Enjoy a boxed lunch from Bangor favorite Mo’s BBQ (veggie options available). Along the way pass through Eggomoggin Reach and under the Deer Isle Bridge, visit Castine harbor, travel forty miles up the Penobscot River, view Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. Bob Duchesne will play host and point out wildlife and bird sightings. During the tour local lighthouse historian Gene Torbek will provide narrative at ten lighthouses – with eight minute stops at each light. A representative of the friends of Fort Knox will be onboard to provide commentary on Fort Knox. Other special guests may also join us for a thrilling trip up the Penobscot by water.

Downeast Lights Fall 7-Lighthouse Photography Tour

Join us on a fall downeast Maine lighthouse photography tour with Mike Leonard from Portland Photo Club. See all the lighthouses between Bar Harbor and Jonesport. This tour will travel up the coast into the Bay of Fundy and visit Egg Rock Light, Winter Harbor Light, Petit Manan Light, Moose Peak Light, Nash Island Light, Narraguagus (Pond Island) Light, and Prospect Harbor Light. Lighthouse guides Gene Torbek and Zack Klyver will guide the tour and provide narrative. This trip will offer some outstanding photo opportunities as you learn how to take great photos from our photo experts onboard. Moose Peak Light on Mistake Island was recently used in a film about a 1800’s woman light keeper shot during the summer of 2014.
