Acadia Institute of Oceanography
Based in Seal Harbor on Mount Desert Island offering two week classes during the summer. AIO introduces young people to the exciting world of marine science through a unique hands-on curriculum that combines biological, physical and chemical oceanography with field, classroom, offshore, and laboratory work.
Allied Whale is The Marine Mammal Laboratory at College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. They have developed techniques for photo-identification studies of humpback & finback whales which are now used worldwide. Allied Whale curates both the North Atlantic Humpback & Finback Catalogues which contain the largest collection of photographs and data on North Atlantic humpbacks & finbacks in the world.
American Cetacean Society
An organization devoted to whale & dolphin conservation & education. The American Cetacean Society (ACS) is the oldest whale conservation group in the world. Founded in 1967, it is a non-profit, volunteer membership organization with regional U.S. chapters and members in 22 countries.
The Marine Mammal Center
The Marine Mammal Center works to foster marine mammal survival and the conservation of their habitat. through rescue and humane treatment of ill, injured or orphaned marine mammals, to return healthy animals to the wild; through scientific inquiry, to increase knowledge of marine mammals, their health and their environment; and through education and communication programs, to increase appreciation of marine mammals, foster informed decision-making and inspire action to protect the marine environment.

The Ocean Mammal Institute
The Ocean Mammal Institute is a research organization dedicated to awakening peoples' minds and hearts to nature's interconnected harmony. Their programs help individuals understand and feel their connection to nature, and give them courage to act responsibly for the planet and its inhabitants. By collecting scientific data on the impact of human activities on whales and dolphins, OMI is able to use their research to develop guidelines to directly protect these marine mammals.

Stellwagon Bank National Marine Sanctuary
The Gerry E. Studds-Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary 's mission is to conserve, protect, and enhance the biodiversity, ecological integrity, and cultural legacy of this 842-square-mile stretch of open water and the seafloor below located at the mouth of Massachusetts Bay. The Whale Center of New England
The Whale Center of New England is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and was founded in 1980 to study whales using waters off the Massachusetts coast, especially Stellwagon Bank and Jeffrey's Ledge. A preeminent research institution, its over 20 years of field-based studies utilizing individual identification markings for detailed behavioral studies are the basis for many published scientific articles, the development of educational materials and involvement in conservation efforts involving marine animals and their habitat.
