Allied Whale curates both the North Atlantic Humpback & Finback Catalogues which contain the largest collection of photographs and data on North Atlantic humpbacks & finbacks in the world.

The Whale Center of New England is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and was founded in 1980 to study whales using waters off the Massachusetts coast, especially Stellwagon Bank and Jeffrey's Ledge. A preeminent research institution, its over 20 years of field-based studies utilizing individual identification markings for detailed behavioral studies are the basis for many published scientific articles, the development of educational materials and involvement in conservation efforts involving marine animals and their habitat.
