Cruising at speeds up to 40 mph, we'll get to the whale grounds fast! We also keep in touch with off-shore fisherman for recent sightings, and are proud to say that we have an excellent whale sighting record for 11 years running! We are one of the rare tour boats, approved by U.S.C.G., that can go out more than 20 miles past a harbor of safe refuge, with all our passengers aboard.
Whale watching is perhaps one of the most exciting activities you may ever experience! You will be amazed at these gentle yet awesome animals. Enjoy getting to the whales aboard our high speed catamaran. We will provide full informative and educational narration. Our naturalist will point out whales and other wildlife that we may encounter including seals, eagles, porpoises, dolphins, and a large variety of offshore seabirds. You will come away from this trip both educated and inspired. And... You will definitely want to come back for more!

Miss Samantha
Join us aboard the Miss Samantha, Bar Harbor's newest and biggest lobster passenger boat. During the first part of the trip, you'll watch us haul lobster traps from the ocean floor as the captain explains how the trap works. In addition to lobster and crab, you'll see and be able to touch sea urchins, starfish, and sea "cucumbers." The kids will love it and so will you. About half way through our cruise, we'll stow all the lobster gear and then head off to a small island to look at harbor seals basking on the rocks or swimming in the nearby water. Because of the Miss Samantha's size, we sometimes get so close that you can count their whiskers. Our sighting average is over 95 percent, so don't forget to bring your camera! And all the while, we'll be cruising in Frenchman Bay, where beautiful cottages line the shore and granite mountains rise majestically from the sea.
The Miss Samantha is fully Coast Guard certified. She has radar, radio telephone, fathometer, toilet, and benches for your comfort. This trip is considered by many to be one of Maine's most exciting and informative excursions available.
The Acadian
Join us for a 1½ or 2 hour cruise in the protected waters of Frenchman Bay, off Bar Harbor, Maine. We'll cruise past some of the most breathtaking scenery in New England. From the shear granite cliffs of Schooner Head to the smooth rock beaches behind Ironbound Island, you'll see a rugged maritime landscape etched by glaciers and battered by sea & wind. Yet, despite the harsh environment, seals still haul out on the ledges of Flanders Bay to warm up and raise their pups. Eagles still build nests along the shores of the Porcupine Islands and porpoises still surface unexpectedly in the bay for a few breaths of air before continuing their search for food. Frenchman Bay is teeming with life and our naturalists are eager to point it out and interpret it for you. The Acadian offers:
- Two decks
- Heated cabin
- Concert quality PA system
- Two rest rooms
- Radar equipped
- Steel construction with twin diesels for safety
